Why Should Not Only You, But Also Your Riverfront Property Owning Neighbors be Members of SRA

Do you have riverfront property owning neighbors who have yet to join the Spokane River Association?

If so, please read this article carefully and then pay them a visit and relay the below-listed arguments to gain their membership. We need a high percentage of riverfront owners as dues paying members of the SRA so that we can speak out “with one voice” on issues affecting property taxes, boating-related safety and noise issues, and all other issues impacting the general quality of life for all of us on the Spokane River.

Who Is The Spokane River Association?

The SRA is a, all volunteer organization of concerned Spokane River front property owners, committed to maintaining and improving the quality of life for those who live on the river is encouraged and open to any river front property owner. Members serve the organization as unpaid board members, officers, committee members and with their financial support through the payment of minimal annual membership dues.

How do the SRA's leaders actually serve the membership?

All activities performed by the SRA's board members, officers, and committee members are carried out for no compensation whatsoever. Those activities include attending monthly board meetings, up to date at and making input to, regional, county, and local and private business organizations dealing with an individual board member's or officer’s of interest and/or specialization related to the river. Such fields include, but are not limited to, river area's environment, the Coeur d'Alene Lake Management Plan, county waterway use, Post Falls dam management, lake and river water quality, property taxes, and boating safety/noise/river bank damage. Activities also include working with those agencies to gain implementation of that will improve the quality of life on the river. Finally, and very importantly, the leadership communicates the general paid membership, through its quarterly newsletter, "River Talk", the nature of all such activities, the fruits of those activities and challenges that still remain ahead.

How are dues spent and controlled?

Dues for such items as printing and mailing the organization's, financial reports, mailing annual dues statements and meeting notices, post office box rental, and secretarial expenses (one part time person only). Our books are internally audited annually and are always totally open to inspection by any paid-up member(s) upon request, at any time.

How do I sign up a new SRA member?

Have the prospective new SRA member send his or her name, physical address on the river, and mailing address (if different) with a check for $50 (for a one year calendar membership) made out to the “Spokane River Association” to the SRA at P.O. Box 1737, Post Falls, Idaho 83877. New and paid-up members will then receive a “welcome letter” (outlining benefits given to all SRA members), regular copies of the very informative River Talk newsletter, and invitations to all SRA business and social activities.
